The active participation of citizens in the process of governance enhances the possibility of transition from good governance to better governance. The participation of the people in the administration, increasing free access to information can curb the level of corruption in administrative sector. In the year 2005 the Indian Parliament passed the Right to Information Act for increasing the accountability and efficiency of the governing system. The ultimate objective of act is to give power to citizens to seek relevant information and transparency from the government. Through this Act, citizens can keep a vigil on the government’s decisions and activities.
